This sweet broccoli recipe transforms an everyday vegetable into an irresistible side dish with a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and garlicky flavors. The tender-crisp broccoli florets are coated in a glossy honey garlic glaze that caramelizes slightly, creating a dish that even vegetable skeptics will love.
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 10 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients
- 1 large head broccoli (cut into florets)
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 clove garlic (minced)
- 3 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add broccoli florets and blanch for 2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet and toss to coat with the garlic oil. Cook for 2 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Pour the honey mixture over the broccoli and toss to coat evenly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and glazes the broccoli.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice at the end. This dish is best served immediately while the glaze is still warm and sticky.
