Creamy Banana Oreo Ice Cream
This homemade banana Oreo ice cream is incredibly creamy with the perfect balance of sweet banana flavor and crunchy chocolate cookie bits. The ripe bananas create a naturally sweet base while the crushed Oreos add delightful chocolatey pockets throughout the smooth, cold treat.
Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes
Serves: 6
Ingredients
- 3 bananas (ripe, mashed)
- 2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 0.75 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 15 Oreo cookies (roughly chopped)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
- Add the sugar, vanilla extract, and salt to the mashed bananas and mix well.
- Pour in the heavy cream and whole milk, then whisk until everything is fully combined.
- Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until completely chilled.
- Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions (usually 15-20 minutes).
- During the last 2 minutes of churning, add the chopped Oreo cookies.
- Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 2 hours before serving for a firmer consistency.
Notes
For the best flavor, use very ripe bananas with brown spots. The ice cream will be soft-serve consistency right after churning - freeze longer for a firmer texture.
