Avocado Toast with Za'atar and Feta

Avocado Toast with Za'atar and Feta

This elevated avocado toast combines creamy avocado with tangy feta, aromatic za'atar spice, and a drizzle of honey for a perfect balance of flavors. The contrast between the crunchy toast, smooth avocado, and salty-sweet toppings creates an irresistible breakfast or snack that takes just minutes to prepare.

Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 5 minutes
Serves: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 slice sourdough bread
  • 1 avocado (ripe)
  • 0.25 cup feta cheese (crumbled)
  • 1 tablespoon za'atar spice blend
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 0.5 lemon (for juice)
  • pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Toast the sourdough bread slices until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a small bowl. Add a squeeze of lemon juice, salt, and pepper, then mash with a fork until slightly chunky.
  3. Spread the mashed avocado evenly over the toasted bread slices.
  4. Sprinkle the crumbled feta cheese over the avocado layer.
  5. Dust the za'atar spice blend over the toast.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil and a small amount of honey.
  7. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can rub a cut garlic clove on the toast before adding the avocado. Use bread that's sturdy enough to hold the toppings without getting soggy.
